Mumbai Jewish Center Retaken, Hostages Reported Dead

Fighting Dies Down After Three Days of Combat,Indian commandos used a barrage of grenades and powerful explosives today to root out die-hard terrorists who battled government troops for a third day in Mumbai. Indian commandos work to take back several buildings targeted in the attack. The fighting appeared to come to an end at the Trident-Oberoi Hotel and a Jewish outreach center, but firing continued at the sprawling Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. The most dramatic conclusion came today at Chabad House, the Jewish center, with troops rappeling onto the roof from helicopters and the building being peppered with grenades as residents crowded surrounding rooftops to cheer on the attack. At one point troops were seen dangling what appeared to be a mannequin over the side of the building in an apparent attempt to get the terrorists to reveal themselves.

Retrial for accused Seattle Jewish center shooter

Seattle, WA – A second trial has begun to determine whether a mentally ill man who stormed a Seattle Jewish center in 2006, killing one woman and wounding five others, was legally insane at the time. Naveed Haq’s first trial ended with jurors deadlocked on that issue. Deputy King County prosecutor Don Raz began his opening statement today by detailing the preparations Haq made for the shooting spree at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle, including several trips to gun stores and two documents he wrote criticizing Israel and US policy in the Middle East. Raz told the 16 jurors that Haq’s mental illness didn’t cause him to attack the Jewish Federation — his anger did.

Jewish Center Commemorates Mumbai Attack Victims

Last year a tragic incident happened in Mumbai, India. Pakistani militants brutally attacked the city and targeted a Jewish Center among other sites. The center has now reopened to pay tribute to the victims. Content：This Jewish center in western Mumbai became a war zone when it was stormed by Pakistan-based militants in November last year. Nariman House was kept closed since the fierce gun battle of November 29th. Orthodox Jews and residents lit memorial candles at the center, one of the many sites targeted during the three-day rampage.
